Kevin Loughrey's Skillset, Experience and Knowledge

Consultancy Services.  I can offer a wide range of Management Consultancy Services with particular emphasis on the cost-effective application of affordable, secure, practical and reliable Information and Communications Technology (ICT).  To gain some idea of the breadth of my expertise and experience please click on the "Current Projects" and "Past Projects" tabs of this webpage.  My engineering and scientific experience has ranged from the construction of waterways and very large pieces of mineral separation equipment to advanced physics associated with polymer deposition in plasma and the design and construction of highly specialised silicon micro-chips (called ASICs - Application Specific Integrated Circuits).
Advanced Barcode and Radio Frequency Auto-ID Technology.  In collaboration with Ivan Curtis, a brilliant electrical engineer who owns and operates a company called Keyworks in Adelaide, and a number of firms in the UK, my team and I at Intag International Ltd, developed a world-first suite of technology that made possible the cost-affordable individual identification of all items of interest within any organisation or enterprise. (See www.nuera-id.com.)   These same personalities were the first in the world to develop a monolithic, multi-frequency RFID transponder utilising a novel ferroelectric random access memory technology.
Anti-counterfeiting and Encryption Systems.  The NuEra ID system of identification I conceived, patented and developed can be used in applications ranging from the prevention of counterfeiting of attractive goods through to the conduct of rigorously fair elections.
Software Development and Maintenance of "Bespoke" Applications.  These applications make maximum use, where practical, of Open Source Software and are tailored to the exact needs of an enterprise. Most importantly these applications utilise a front-end graphical user interface which complies to a standard I created called CAFE, standing for Common Application Front End.(See "Current Projects".) By writing software that complies with this standard, it is possible for all applications within an organisation to exhibit the same user interface; this interface being easy to learn and quick to input data.

Low-Cost High Performance WiFi systems for deployment into undeveloped areas or areas afflicted by Natural Disaster.  I have considerable expertise in the conception, design and implementation of highly secure mobile systems which opportunistically synchronise with other databases operated by other entities in an organisation as necessary.  This includes the design and implementation of low-cost, high-capacity WiFi (PC radio communications) over very large areas.   (One WiFi pole, for example, can have the capacity to sustain around 50,000 VoIP telephone calls or 17 streams of high definition 1080p video.  These poles may be powered by solar cells and wind turbines - similar to those commonly found on yachts.)
Application Specific Integrated Circuit Design.(ASIC)  I have, in the past, collaborated with Keyworks Pty Ltd in Adelaide for the purpose of making specialist chips such as those used for encrypting and decrypting data using AES256.
Integration of Advanced, In-expensive, PC-based VoIP Telephone Exchange Systems. I have, in the past, developed VoIP systems based on an Open Source Software suite called Asterisk-based for use in medium sized businesses of around 50 personnel. This VoIP Telephone Exchange system saved around $1,000 per month in telephone call costs and had the possibility to provide for "call from the desktop". This is where the user has a contact list displayed on the screen of their PC and, by clicking on that contact, cause a call to be commenced. In the process, calls can be logged and, if desired, recorded. For more details plase click on the "Current Projects" tab.)
